I like to keep my makeup as minimal and natural as possible. Even when going out I wear the same day-to-day look, the occasional winged liquid liner. I am very fair and sometimes struggle to find products that work for my skin tone, but over a long period of time I have discovered and found these to be my staple items.
Here are the products in the order that I apply them:
Foundation: Urban Decay-naked skin-shade 0.5 (applied with my makeup sponge)
Concealer: Tarte-maracuja creaseless concealer-in fair (apply under eyes to brighten)
Pressed powder: Physicians Formula -super CC -in light/medium(apply with my kabuki brush to set foundation and even out)
Bronzer: Benefit-Hoola (apply with contour brush to contour cheek bones/jaw and along top of forehead and nose)
Blush: Tarte-paaarty (apply in upward motion on cheekbones with blush brush)
Highlighter: Benefit-Dandelion- (I apply very generously to brow-line, tops of cheekbones, top of forehead and tip of nose)
Mascara: L’Oréal telescopic
I used to be overwhelmed by all of the products out there and the trends produced by them. I would step into a Sephora and be greeted by a glamorous lady done up to the nines, wearing every product possible. I felt the pressure to have and wear all of the expensive products that I saw. “Is this what wearing makeup has to be today?” It seemed unachievable. I didn’t even know where to start. It just wasn’t for me, keeping up to the newest makeup releases, wearing the primer, the many layers of shadows, the brow products. But what was me? I did like makeup, but not to that extent. After some trial and error I discovered what was for me and what wasn’t! Sure, many women can totally pull off the full faces of makeup, complete with thick liners and dark shadows, I just not being one, found that the less on my eyes the better- probably due to my fair complexion or finer features and maybe even my lifestyle and personality!
My readers, don’t let the trends define your own personal style, dig deep to find what is truly you and let yourself flourish in that!
